For more than 25 years, Spotters has been a proud Australian sunglasses brand. Every pair of sunglasses is assembled and finished in our Melbourne facility, where precision craftsmanship and strict quality control ensure each pair performs exactly as it should. Because when you spend your life outdoors in Australia, your eyewear needs to work harder.
Australia has some of the highest UV levels in the world. In fact, a UV index of 3 or higher requires eye protection, and in many parts of Australia this level is exceeded year-round, even on cloudy days.
Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation can damage the eyes over time and contribute to serious conditions such as cataracts, photokeratitis (sunburn of the eye), macular degeneration and long-term retinal damage. That's why effective eye protection is essential for anyone spending time outdoors in Australia.
But UV exposure is only part of the challenge. Our environment combines intense sunlight, reflective water surfaces, bright open landscapes and long periods of outdoor exposure. These conditions create extreme glare that can quickly lead to eye strain and reduced visibility.
That's why Spotters sunglasses are built differently. Every pair features polarised lenses with 100% UVA and UVB protection, designed to eliminate harsh reflected glare while maintaining sharp, comfortable vision for extended periods outdoors. Combined with frames engineered for stability and all-day comfort, our Australian sunglasses are purpose-built to perform in the demanding conditions Australians experience every day.
For more than two decades, we have been refining sunglasses designed for life outdoors.
Engineered for clarity. Built for durability. Handcrafted in Australia.
In Melbourne, every pair of Spotters Sunglasses is meticulously crafted by experienced technicians who specialise in precision optics.
Our Crown Glass lenses are individually cut using specialised equipment, then hand-edged and refined to ensure a perfect fit within each frame. This process requires experience and attention to detail, as even the smallest imperfection can affect optical clarity or comfort.
Frames are carefully prepared before the lenses are fitted to ensure the integrity of both the lens and the frame. Once assembled, the lenses are hand checked for correct polarisation alignment to guarantee maximum glare reduction.
From there, the Spotters logo is printed onto the lens and left to cure before each pair undergoes a thorough quality inspection. Lenses are cleaned, frames are checked for alignment and finish, and every pair is individually reviewed to ensure it meets the performance standards Spotters is known for.
This hands-on process ensures every pair delivers the clarity, durability and visual performance our customers rely on outdoors, qualities that have helped establish Spotters as a trusted name in Australian made sunglasses.
Most sunglasses use plastic lenses because they are cheaper and easier to mass produce. We made the decision to use Crown Glass lenses because they deliver superior optical precision and meet our extremely high standards.
Glass allows for sharper, distortion-free vision across the entire lens surface, helping reduce eye fatigue and maintain visual clarity even in extreme glare. The result is clearer vision, better contrast and long-term durability.
Spotters Sunglasses are designed by a team who truly understand the Australian outdoors because they live it themselves.
From fishing offshore and boating along the coast to hiking rugged trails, four-wheel driving remote tracks, cycling long country roads and spending days on the water, our team has first-hand experience of the environments our customers spend their time in. This deep connection to the outdoors shapes every design decision we make.
Rather than designing products in distant factories removed from real-world conditions, we've built a diverse Australian design team with expertise spanning outdoor recreation, engineering, aerospace materials, technology and performance design. Our approach is simple: every detail matters.
From the ergonomics of the frame and the materials used, down to the smallest stainless steel screw, every element is engineered, refined and tested to deliver genuine performance in demanding conditions.
The result is eyewear built for the environments Australians experience every day. Polarised Crown Glass lenses reduce harsh glare while maintaining natural colour perception and exceptional clarity, while ergonomically designed frames ensure comfort and durability for long days outdoors.
Manufacturing locally allows us to maintain full control over quality and performance. Every pair is assembled, checked and refined by our team to ensure it meets our strict standards before it leaves the facility.
